Last night the fourth summer of the 9-week ISE Coding Garage program came to a close with 9 students presenting their mobile apps for a chance at $500. In early June, the program started with 13 self-driven students working on their own apps and ended yesterday as 6 apps were presented for judging, with one of the presenters attending remotely.
This year there was an overwhelming theme of games. Five of apps focused on both single and multi-player games of skill with one of the games requiring four participants working together to complete a mission.
The 2018 winners are:
- 1st Place: Ralph Nahra and Rudy Nahra (Bombs Away) receiving a $500 award.
- 2nd Place: Nick Silva and Daniel Song (Clan Line) receiving a $250 award.
- 3rd Place: Dominic Rutkowski and Vladimir Tivanski (Freefall) receiving a $100 award.
Additional presentation participants included:
- Sierra Hoffman (Nim)
- George Liu (Aesthetix)
- Hang Sun and Charlie Zheng (Airmen)
The ISE Coding Garage could not have been successful without the joint support from ISE and the University of Iowa’s Electrical and Computer Engineering program.
Several students have expressed interest in continuing to work on their apps, and Bombs Away is already in the Google Play store!
