Welcome back to the Meet Our Team Q&A series. My name is Daniela Williams, Project Manager at ISE, and I’ll be asking ISE team members questions to help give insight into what makes us tick.
Today I'm interviewing Aubray Coorough, Product Owner of our mysterious and well-regarded Big Data team.
Q. How long have you worked at ISE and what did you do prior?
Aubray: I have worked at ISE for 3 months. Prior to joining ISE I worked for 13 years at a financial services company supporting their life insurance products by managing a team of Business Systems Analysts.
Q. You recently joined the ISE team as the Product Owner of the Big Data team. How would you describe Big Data at ISE?
Aubray: The Big Data team currently supports Big Data needs of three companies. All the companies have their own unique complex Big Data issues we help them solve.
For one customer we utilize Natural Language Processing (NLP), and both supervised and unsupervised learning to predict maintenance resolutions quicker, therefore saving them time and money. One of our other customers utilizes a data management system we created to store, process, analyze and report data. We aide another customer by utilizing their machine data to be able to predict the quality of their product. We also created a dashboard that gives the customer real time insight into their machinery.
Q. The Big Data team has a reputations for being a fun and well-oiled team. What have you enjoyed most while working with the Big Data team members?
Aubray: What I’ve enjoyed most while working with the Big Data team members is how well they work together and respect each other’s thoughts and opinions, meanwhile also being able to challenge one another. I’m in awe of the intelligence that exists within the Big Data team. They make working as a team fun, challenging and rewarding!
Q: You recently went through Product Owner training. What one thing did you take away that you are excited to incorporate with your team?
Aubray: Because I had not been in a Product Owner role prior to joining ISE the biggest take away for me was truly understanding my roles and responsibilities within the Scrum Team. The training gave me everything I needed to study and pass the PSPO 1 certification exam.
Q: What do you do for fun?
Aubray: I love spending time with my family, which includes my husband and 3 children. For fun I enjoy fishing, traveling, reading and all Iowa Hawkeye sports.
