Each year ISE employees are allocated 40 hours to use towards growth and development activities. Some use it to attend technical conference, some towards online learning classes, and others to play around with new technology. This year I've used the hours to grow my leadership skills and to become more involved in the community. Last week I attended the TEDx event in Iowa City which had a theme of “Power of Community”. I've never attended a TED Conference, but have watched a few online. I was pretty interested to see what a local, live event would be like, and I wasn’t disappointed.

Recently two of our Iowa team members, Bob and Abhijeet, moved to Texas. Earlier this year they helped ISE start up an office in Plano, Texas to expand the Texas team. Today I interviewed the three new additions down South - Dave Tolan, Seth Reynolds, and Henry Alfaro.
Last night the fourth summer of the 9-week ISE Coding Garage program came to a close with 9 students presenting their mobile apps for a chance at $500. In early June, the program started with 13 self-driven students working on their own apps and ended yesterday as 6 apps were presented for judging, with one of the presenters attending remotely.
